Green Building

We are passionate about the wonderful place we live in and through our work strive to improve our built environment. Through the US Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED-AP) program, DCG has on-staff engineers with the knowledge and accreditation to guide a project through the LEED certification program. DCG also has engineers with Low Impact Development (LID) training and certification.

DCG Staff have been involved with King and Snohomish County Master Builder's Association's "Built Green" program, LEED Certified and Silver Buildings, as well as working with local Seattle DPD Green Building programs.

Combined Structural/Civil: Chubby & Tubby Workforce Housing - Seattle, Washington

Seattle Green Building: Chubby & Tubby Workforce Housing, Seattle, WA DCG provided both civil and structural services for this workforce housing project that incorporates two separate projects; a 10 unit townhome style apartments and a 58 unit mixed-use structure. The 10 unit complex consists of two separate 3-story on grade wood structures. The mixed-use structure included 4-stories of type 5 wood construction over 2-stories of type 1 concrete construction; the elevated concrete levels were post-tensioned slabs.

The project was designed in accordance with Seattle's Green Building Program and included a roof-top green deck, 80% post-consumer recycled steel reinforcing and increased insulation among other green qualities. In addition to structural engineering DCG also provided civil engineering including site grading, drainage, site sewers, water services and sidewalk and alley improvements. The project is scheduled to begin construction in the fall of 2009.

Autumn Terrace - San Marcos, California

LEED: Autumn Terrace Located along the newly revitalized rail link of North County, this 5 building, mixed use project was designed to meet the requirements for LEED Silver accreditation. DCG provided structural services for the 3-story wood structures.

The project’s unique features include complicated awnings and low roofs along with open walkways and architecturally featured steel stairs. The design also incorporates merging steel moment frames into the wood framing. The project is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2010.

Martha Rose Construction Low Impact Development Projects - Washington

Martha Rose Construction - Low Impact Development & Built Green Projects DCG has provided civil and structural engineering services for numerous Built Green, Low Impact Development residential projects. Built Green structural aspects have included green roofing, insulated and flush floor headers and increased building insulation.

Martha Rose Construction projects include single-family and multi-family residential units. These projects are built in accordance to the Master Builder's "Built Green" program.
